A Self-Plan “Me vs Future”
Now we have reached the end of
December, where the New Year is only right around the corner! Some of you might
utilize this time to travel, have fun, or just relax with beloved people.
However, there is one thing that you shouldn’t missed, self-plan. A little
exercise to get some ideas to set your success or at least be better of
yourself in the upcoming year. December is the best month to summarize and
evaluate the year, so we can end-up on strong note. Although I used to have a self-plan
in December, it’s still applicable for any time if you really like to have a
fresh start whenever you want.
1. Summarize
Your Year
List down what
you have done in throughout the year (contains your achievement and failure).
Achievement is not always about appreciation/recognition, it can be a simple
thing that made you happy, in example bought new phone for your Mom or made
over your room. So does the failure, such as unhealthy condition. Try to make
it specific every month, so you can see which one is the most productive month and
which one is the least.
2. Evaluate
Yourself
After completing
the year’s summary, analyze every month’s activity by defining what’s work and
didn’t work, also why that was happen. This applies for both achievement and
failure. For example, in achievement part of make over your room, the factors
are creativity and willingness. By the end of exercise, you may find which
factor that really matters and which one that need your attention more. Ensure
you keep it simple, so it would be easier to compile.
3. Set
Your SMART Goal
By considering
the result, you shall be able to identify your priority and select your goal
accurately. Based on Bristol University research, 80% people failed to
accomplish their year’s resolution in the third month of the year. Therefore, I
highly suggest you define your goal SMARTly (Specific, Measurable, Attainable,
Relevant, Time Bound). Rather than saying you want to have healthy diet, it’s
better to say that you will go to gym twice a week to lose 5 kg weight in the
end of January.
4. Bucket
List of Action Plan
The last thing
that I loved to have is listing the bucket list related with my goal. I usually
write the moment precisely including 5W1H. I admit that it’s too childish, but
strangely it excite me in good way. It keeps my pace on track. Sticking with
our goal is never be easy, it’s important that we have something that motivate
us. Through this post, I also share my bucket list template for your reference,
hence you have clear idea of what I have discussed about.
I believe that the physical act
of writing down a goal makes it real and tangible. So make sure you invest your
time to do this shortly. Have a great year ahead, everyone!
